Cooks to Tonga - V 202

- 26th July 2003 - Tonga:
Mariner Cave, Vava'u Captain Tod reports: " Ahoy HQ from Nomuka
Great whale-watching last day in Vava'u. Mariner's Cave in the morning from where snorkellers could hear whalesong and then watching from a moderate distance breaching and tail slapping. Began loosing tops'ls when two humpbacks swam across our bow about 10-15m ahead!
Planning to sail for Nukualofa tmrrow - get officialdom out of the way
early, then find somewhere nice for the last day."

And these kind words were recieved to our office by email -

"My name is Martyn Mayes, I've just returned home from Voyage 202 (Cook Islands to Tonga)

I'd just like to tell you what a wonderful time I had on Soren Larsen. Perhaps this is a little silly, but helming a tallship with the sails silhouetted against the Milkyway, or standing lookout with whales for company, were things I'd only ever thought happened to people on television. Climbing the rigging and working on the yards above a rolling sea were things I could only dream about.
The entire crew are a group of people you should be very proud of, I've seen them work in heavy weather, keep the voyage crew entertained and brighten the lives of the children on Palmerston Island. Though it is unfair to pick people out, my watch system brought me in to close contact with Tod, Barry, Paul, Peter and Sarah, all of whom I can't possibly thank enough, for it was they who helped me to fulfill my dreams.

Thanks... Martyn"

(thank you Martyn .. its what its all about and does make it all worthwhile and we've passed your comments on to the crew. Ian)
