Hi Fleur & Ian, I want to say that I had another absolutely wonderful trip. I was going to do notes for the website again to go with some pictures but this time around I found myself putting together a Girlie Shanty. The verses just started flowing out of me. I am so comfortable on the Soren Larsen that it feels like home, the moment I stepped on her deck I heaved a sigh of relief and left my real life behind. The Shanty sums up my feelings from the trip, from listening to Capt. Jim singing Shanties to himself when no one is around, to being home and listening to the wind and thinking I hear sounds from the ship. Sailing under a full moon on my birthday and seeing for miles in the moonlight, wondering what adventures lie ahead, to lying back and watching the stars and the milkyway, thinking about following a star and dreaming of the next time I can come back. I hope you like it.

Ode to Soren Larsen
(A Girlie Shanty)
A love for the sea,
It began for me,
With the dream of sailing away.
I met a tall ship,
And I took a short trip,
But my heart it longed to stay.
Chorus:
I left my heart on a sailing ship,
Take care of it for me.
I’ll not be gone long for the sailor’s song,
Is calling me back to the sea.
CHORUS
There’s passion that lingers,
On lips of the singers,
Of shanties from years gone by.
They’ll sing you a song,
Of a love that’s so strong,
For the wind and the sea and the sky.
CHORUS
It’s a whisper on air,
That beckons me there,
Like the Sirens from the Isles.
It sings a sweet song,
Of sailors so strong,
That echo’s across the miles.
CHORUS
With a Full moon on high,
We sail full and bye.
It’s a beautiful sight to see.
There’s a feeling of wonder,
At lands far off yonder,
That’s calling out to me.
CHORUS
The stars shining bright,
Long into the night,
They guide the sailor’s way.
I don’t know quite when,
But I’ll come back again,
To sail the seas one day.
CHORUS
