CREW MAIL:
There
is nothing more highly prized by sailors on far flung oceans
than a letter from home. Mail can be directed to the ship's
Auckland office and it is then hand carried up the ship at the
first available opportunity.
Voyage crew who are flying ex
Auckland are usually asked if they would mind adding the bag
of mail to their luggage (and they are often pleasantly surprised
at their instant popularity when stepping aboard).
HOWEVER
we are relying on the goodwill of our guests with this system
- with the new security restrictions - post 9/11 - and the luggage
limit for international flights we feel we cannot ask our volunteer
couriers to take anything other than standard letters.
Parcels, books, care packages,
packs of favourite sweets, Sunday Telegraph colour supplements,
much missed cuddly toys etc etc etc cannot be sent on with Voyage
Crew (but they can be held in the office for the ship's return
to New Zealand in November).
While there are hotels which
we will be using for guests accommodation at the various ports
we have found that sending mail care/of these addresses is often
not reliable. Delays in air post or mail going astray in the
local system can cause mail to miss the ship at our brief times
in port.
Thanks for your understanding.
Letters should be clearly address as :
Crew Mail for Seaman Bates etc
c/o Tallship Soren Larsen,
P.O.Box Kumeu,

New Zealand.
