Following was published in the North Harbour NetWorker

"Auckland's Flagship the Tallship Søren Larsen will sail home to the Waitamata Harbour in the spring, on the completion of her 18 month Global Odyssey Voyage to Europe and the Caribbean.

From November she will again work from her Princes Wharf base, in the heart of the downtown waterfront, offering evening or afternoon charters on Auckland Harbour.

Many companies are already planning their Christmas functions and this classic square rigger could provide the ultimate venue for a really memorable party. The 300 ton brigantine can host up to 90 guests, providing a graceful, elegant and stable vantage point from which to enjoy Auckland's greatest asset - her harbour.

Outside caterers provide sumptuous buffet menus and the ship runs a fully licensed bar on deck. Prior to Christmas the ship is offering a Classic Christmas Cruise package which offers great value with a per head price for a four hour cruise inclusive of an extensive festive buffet. A group of 40 people or more can exclusively charter the ship but arrangements for smaller groups (5-40 guests) can easily be made on a shared charter basis. This has proved very successful with smaller businesses who can organise their cruise at larger group prices.

Four hours is a typical evening charter, with the ship proceeding up to the Upper Harbour to enjoy the sunset before setting her tops'ls and sailing gently down under the bridge as the city lights come on at twilight over the city skyline. For those who want first hand experience of this star of The Onedin Line series you might join the crew helping haul up a sail and if you speak nicely to the Captain he might even let you take the helm of this historic ship.

Søren Larsen will always guarantee a memorable experience and for anyone looking for an unforgettable event for a client function or a party to reward staff at the end of the year, this could be their solution. But enquire soon as the Christmas dates do book up early.

For those interested in Søren Larsen's present voyages through Fiji and Vanuatu - click on the ship's website at www.sorenlarsen.co.nz . You can read the WebLog of her voyage across the world and you may even be tempted to join her for a 10 day adventure holiday this winter, prior to her return to new Zealand.

The ship's plans for summer include short holiday voyages in the Hauraki Gulf and Bay of Islands and 3 or 5 hour Daysails on weekend afternoons. In between she will be seen sailing gracefully on the Harbour with a corporate group, a social club or wedding party enjoying the City of Sails from the most beautiful vessel in New Zealand.

Will you be aboard? "
